Purpose, Philosophy, and Curriculum
The purpose of Northside Baptist Weekday Preschool is to extend the ministry of and help accomplish the purpose of Northside Baptist Church by providing excellent care and education in a Christian environment. We provide developmentally appropriate activities that allow children to reach their greatest God given potential. Our program also provides ministry and outreach to the families of the children enrolled.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
1. We believe that each child is a unique individual. We are sensitive to a child's spiritual, social, emotional, and physical needs. We provide developmentally appropriate activities that promote self worth and success.
2. We believe that learning is a sequential process and that children grow and develop at their own rate. Children learn by actively participating in activities appropriate for his or her skill level. The child is able to learn skills necessary by hands on interaction without pressure.
3. We believe that the strength of our program is in the dedication of our teaching staff. Our teachers create a caring, loving, and nurturing atmosphere promoting each child's creativity and positive self image.
4. We believe children deserve to be children. Our program is designed to develop in children a sense of independence and responsibility
5. We believe parents are the most significant adults in a child's life. We strive to create mutual respect between parents and teachers which is a partnership benefiting the child. We encourage communication between parents and teachers. Our doors are open to parents at all times.
CURRICULUM
All classrooms use Wee Learn Curriculum. Wee Learn Curriculum is a Biblically based curriculum. Academic Skills are learned by direct and indirect instruction in a variety of ways. Children are offered choices in learning and play centers, are provided opportunities to think and solve problems, begin to have a foundation laid of God, Jesus, the Bible, Church, Self, Family, Others and the World.
